top food additives to avoid

here is a list of highly common additives that i personally avoid at all costs. the biggest way to avoid them is to read food labels diligently even if you think there is no way a harmful additive could find its way in something so little as the gum you chew. it is interesting to see many of these entirely banned in certain countries while others we see them in about 40% of our foods. there is something wrong here.

  1. Aspartame
  • artificial sweetener most known as Nutrasweet & Equal
  • seen in many foods labeled "diet", "sugar free" or "low calorie"
  • believed to be a carcinogenic, neurotoxin that affects short term memory
  • can lead to wide variety of illnesses: diabetes, multiple sclerosis, alzheimers, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety attacks, dizziness, headaches, migraines...
what to avoid: diet or sugar free sodas, diet coke, coke zero, gum, candy, yogurt, desserts such as ice cream, sugar free cookies, pudding, and also condiments like maple syrup, jams, jellies, sugar free chocolate syrup and ketchup even.

   2.  High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)
  • this highly refined artificial sweetener is in just about everything and consumes way too many calories of the american diet
  • estimated 40% of foods contain HFCS...hello obesity epidemic
  • almost all processed foods contain HFCS
  • it loads on the pounds faster than any other additive
  • increases LDL levels or "bad" cholesterol
  • contributes to development of diabetes, tissue damage, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease
what to avoid:  breads, candy, salad dressings, yogurt, canned veggies and cereals

  • known excitotoxin which as you can guess over excites cells to the point of damge or death
  • ailments associated with: fatigue, headaches, depression, eye damage, and obesity to name a few.
  • prevents you from feeling full like most additives and fake sugars which in turn lead you to eating more and gaining weight becasue you never feel satisfied. sugar is deceptive!

what to avoid: usually known as chinese food syndrome (they love to add MSG) , many snacks, cookies, chips, frozen dinners, lunch , meats and most Campbell soups.

  4. Trans Fats
  • used to enhance and extend shelf life of foods
  •  seen in deep-fried fast foods and certain processed foods made with margarine or partially hydrogenated vegetable oils
  • trans fats are formed by a process called hydrogenation
